The Chihuahua is a small breed of dog and has 2 coat variants, smooth and longhaired, but they are best known for their bright red and white fur. Originally from Mexico, they were bred for their camaraderie and are considered the most popular breed in the USA and one of the largest dog breeds in the world.

The Chihuahua is most commonly bred as a toy dog, which can be bred with other dog breeds such as the Labrador Retriever and the Bulldog as well as with toy dogs.

The Mexican state of the same name, which borders Arizona, Texas and New Mexico, and whose name probably derives from a Nahuatl word meaning “dry, sandy place.” Although the origin of the Chihuahuas is disputed, it seems likely that the breed originated in Mexico. The name “Chihuahua” comes from the Mexican word for “dry” or “sicker” and “smashed” in English, as in the name of a sandy beach. Sources: 1, 2

The AKC ranks 33rd in the popularity scale of the Chihuahua breed, so it is not surprising that the state of Chico, with its large dog population, comes from this state. Records indicate that Olmecs breeded in the area for centuries before the arrival of the Yucatan Indians, believed to have developed the Chihuahuas from an earlier breed called Techichi.

Breeders often charge more than $1,000 for a Chihuahua puppy, and some can set you back as much as $3,000.  Always look for a reputable breeder. Ask your breeder if any testing is being done to protect your future puppy from having any breed-related health problems.

If you are thinking of adding a Chihuahua to your family, be sure to check with your local animal shelters and rescue organizations for adoptable dogs. You can also adopt Chihuas from rescue groups, so look out for them.

Even well-bred and healthy Chihuahuas can be quite small, with the average size of an adult weighing only 4.6 pounds and standing only 6-10 inches tall. Chis weigh only 1-2 pounds as adults and even less than 1 pound as puppies. Unfortunately, some are deliberately bred to make money for their owners or to make money with the dog.

Although these dogs may resemble a Chihuahua, they are a different breed, known as Xoloitzcuintli, and advertised as miniature teacups. Although they look adorable, the dogs are usually very frail and there is no officially recognized breed for them.  Tiny Tails Box also offers a monthly small best dog subscription box for these breeds.

This is not a good idea if your extra small dog suffers from health problems or if you work with a so-called teacup breeder such as a veterinarian.

Chihuahuas have a wide variety of colors, including brown, black, white, red, blue, yellow, green, orange.

The Chihuahua breed is proof that big things can come in a small package, and these little terriers – like dogs – are at the helm. You will probably quickly learn that being cute can help you get away with all sorts of funny business, but being steadfast and loving can help these little puppies become confident, well-balanced dogs that are just as much a part of your family as your wife or husband or even your children.

At 6 inches from the tip of her tail to her nose, Brandy is bordered on the left side by the front of her head and the right side on her back.

The tail of the Chihuahua has the shape of a sickle, is wrapped and the tip almost touches her back. In other words, Chi is a large dog that is trapped in the body of a tiny puppy but has a big personality. The “ideal” Chihuahua personality was described by fans of the Chihuahuas breed as a mixture of a dog with the personality of an adult dog and a small puppy with an active, energetic, playful personality and an aggressive, aggressive posture.

They tend to be the dog of a person who is extremely loyal to their human being, and they are active and fun – they love small dogs that do not need any special care or attention from their owners. Chihuahuas are one of the longest-living breeds due to their long life expectancy and high health and fitness levels.

Once a month a bath should suffice for them, and once a week or twice a day for the rest of their life or once a month there should be enough Bebe baths.

The personality of the Chihuahua is not entirely up to them, but that does not mean that good education and socialization do not make much difference. Some Chihuahuas are said to be milder – mannered, while others are more anxious and aggressive. Pet parents, please be aware of this and do not bring any of their dogs to their parents or grandparents, as this means that their personality is not entirely their own.
